Four Sake Cups by Ogawa Machiko
Ogawa Machiko (b.1946) is a very influential potter in the contemporary Japanese ceramic scene, as many know. In a past ceramic art journal here in Japan she was also named one of the top 50 ceramic artists in Japan today. Here are four of her sake cups, two in a platinum glaze, one in a gold-glaze and the other large one in a creamy Hagi-esque ash glaze with a very earthy clay body seen on the base. The slender ones have engaging faceted sides that suit the hand: all in perfect condition with signed boxes, the tallest silver is 6.5cm.tallx4.5cm., while the white-glazed one is an oval form at 6.5cm.talllx9cm.x8cm(On Reserve)
