Nezumi-Shino Sculpture-Koro by Arimoto Kuugen–Left Sold
Arimoto Kuugen(b.1963) makes some of the finest Shino wares today in all of Japan, not a light statement to make. He recently started making kurinuki-carved out forms and these are the first to be seen sculpture-koro incense burners, each took a month to make and many were lost due to the lids not fittiing–high risk forms–and the lids and body on these two match perfectly. Quite possibly the first time a ceramic artist has done kurinuki using Mino’s famed mokusa clay. Each turn show a new vista, truly a feat in contemporary Shino ceramic art. Each in perfect condition with signed boxes, 13.5cm.tallx14, signed on base. We also selected some kurinuki vases, new guinomi and some Ki-Seto works, photos soon.
