Shigaraki Guinomi by Tsuji Seimei
Tsuji Seimei(1927-2008) was a ceramic artist who walked with the gods; his work is pure Japanese aesthetics; a retrospective exhibition was held at The National Museum of Modern Art Crafts Gallery, Tokyo last autumn. More about him at www.e-yakimono.net yet that site appears to be down (as is Robert’s email, new one firstname.lastname@example.org) as the Tokyo server crashed, or something. Anyway, here is a rare Ido ‘deep well’ Tsuji Shigaraki guinomi with his classic firing and strong kodai-foot. In perfect condition with a signed box, 5.5cm.tallx8cm.wide, signed on base. Today Tani Q visited from Shigaraki, he’s discovered a firing method to get works to look like Ko-Shigaraki, preview photos here.
