Shino Vase by Mizuno Takuzo(On Reserve)–Tokkuri Hayashi Kotaro(Sold)
Here are two lovely Shino pieces; the left is a Nezumi-Shino vase(can be used as a tokkuri too) by Mizuno Takuzo(b.1927) and the right is a rare tokkuri by Hayashi Kotaro((1940-1981). Mizuno studied with Kato Kageaki(1899-1972, Yasukage’s grandfather) and then with LNT Tomimoto Kenkichi before establishing his kiln in 1961. In 2010 he was designated a Toki City(birthplace of Shino) Intangible Cultural Property for his Black Seto. The vase is 16.5cm.tallx11, perfect condition with a signed box, signed on base; Sold . Hayashi was a most gifted potter, more about him on our archives. This tokkuri has iron-underglaze swirl motifs like those seen on a jar in the archives,yet not as pronounced.
