‘The Edge’ Red Ash-Glazed Ceramic Monoliths by Kako Katsumi
Kako Katsumi(b.1965) is one of our favorite ceramic artists who challenges his art with a keen sense and unique vision; and for this his work has been shown at the Nitten, Asahi, Japan Ceramic Art, Mino International, Hyogo Prefectural Ceramic Art Museum (Hyogo Ceramic Artists), and Tanabe Museum Tea Forms Exhibitions, along with his one-man and group shows. All Kako’s works are fresh, yet recall past works such as Yayoi Period vessels or 20th century masters such as Kamoda Shoji or Wada Morihiro. In time, no doubt, Kako will be in major collections worldwide. Here is a tall sword-like sculpture with burnt red and inlay designs and a comb brushing-paddling over the bodies. Each stands on a wooden base and each is 86cm.tall with the base, the works themselves are 80cm.tall, perfect condition with signed boxes.
