Kegon Series by Hayashi Kaku
Hayashi Kaku(b.1953) is a major ceramic artist here in Japan whose work is little known in the west, although her work was part of a traveling exhibition 'Soaring Voices--Contemporary Japanese Women Ceramic Artists'--that toured Japan and the US. A few years ago she was awarded a prestigious award for a work exhibited at the Nitten; her exhibition history-award-lectures are too long to list here, yet will be sent along with this work. The Kegon Waterfall is one of the most beautiful and famous waterfalls in all of Japan and Hayashi lives not from there. She draws upon the majestic beauty and power of the falls and incorporates those elements-emotions into her works, whether they be pieces like 'Morning Mist' or the many ceramic walls she is asked to create. Here is a stunningly powerful and graceful Kegon, of course a museum piece. In perfect condition, 80cm.tallx41.5cm.longx21cm.deep, and will be sent via a private shipper.
