Chawan / Ash-Glazed / Sasayama / Kako Katsumi
'Snowy Landscape' Chawan by Kako Katsumi-JCS 2011-12
At the prestigious Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition 2011 (toured into 2012) there were only two chawan in the entire exhibition, one was by Shino Living National Treasure Suzuki Osamu (he was invited) and the other was this Kako chawan (he was selected by an illustrious jury) which he named Sekkei or 'Snowy Landscape.' The form is slightly oval-large with a perfect balance and feel for the hands and senses. A thoroughly original chawan--again by Kako--in perfect condition with a signed box and a copy of the catalog, 10.5cm.tallx14.7x12.5, signed on base. The chawan just came to us today, brought here by Kako himself.
