Two Echizen Jars-Vases by Miyoshi Kentaro
Many years ago Miyoshi Kentaro(b.1953) started making Karatsu wares--75 to be precise--and then become enamored with medieval stonewares and shifted his focus to Echizen--one of the so-called 'Six Old Kilns of Japan.' He moved to Echizen and built an anagama in '79 and has been there eversince making both Echizen and Karatsu. I've been a fan for years and these are the first two works we've ever offered; both rich shizen-yu natural ash-glazed works with engaging forms and textures. The tall one is 38.8cm.tallx21cm. wide at the base x 12cm.also at the base. The sueki-inspired form is 25cm.tallx20x18.5; both in perfect condition with signed boxes.. Miyoshi has had a long exhibition career showing mainly at Takashimaya nationwide.
