Tall Sculpted Seto Iron-Zogan 'Vase' by Takeuchi Shingo
Takeuchi Shingo(b.1955) is a veteran Seto artist whose work we find like no other in his original forms and muted tones and textures, very Zen---like a dry rock garden. We have some of his latest work and here is one of the larger ones at 34cm.tallx22.2. The piece is hand-coiled built and the then carved, the interlocking ridges are engaging on many levels, with the shadows they create surely at the top of the list. For many years Takeuchi's work has been selected for Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition, Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, Chunichi Ceramic Art Exhibition, Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, the list goes on and on in Japan as well as the Taiwan Ceramics Biennale ('04 '08) and the World Ceramic Biennale 2005 Korea International Competition. We also have another similar-sized work, a few smaller ones as well as tokkuri, guinomi and yunomi.
