Shino Chawan by Higuchi Masayuki--Shuki
It's been about a decade or more since we've met Higuchi Masayuki (b.1972); that was in Tokyo at one of his exhibitions. He studied in Bizen with Living National Treasure Yamamoto Toshu for five years after he graduated from the Nagoya Art University where he majored in sculpture. Suffice to say he makes some very wonderful Mino works. Here is full robust 'soft' Shino chawan with iron-underglaze brushed lines; the lodai is pure and 'simple.' In perfect condition with a signed box, signed on base. The katakuchi is 20,000 yen and all guinomi are 18,000 yen. The Red Shino chawan is 130,000 yen.
