Bizen Tokkuri by Kitaoji Rosanjin
Kitaoji Rosanjin (1883-1959) is one of the most important and influential Japanese artists of the 20th century, as most of you know. His work is highly valued in all areas he worked in; if you are not familiar with Rosanjin I suggest reading ‘The Art of Rosanjin’ by Sidney Cardozo or search at www.e-yakimono.net Here is a plump Rosanjin Bizen tokkuri fired in his later years in Kamakura in the kiln that Kaneshige Toyo built for him. In perfect condition, 14.1cm.tallx10.3, signed on base, signed box by Totoan, the Kuroda family.
