Black-Oribe Guinomi by Sasaki Tadashi

It’s been a number of years since we’ve found a worthy piece by Sasaki Tadashi in any form. Sasaki(1922-1997) was one of the outstanding Oribe potters of the 20th century- he was awarded the top prize in 1967 for his Oribe in the prestigious Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts exhibition. He studied with both Kato Hajime(LNT) and Kato Kobei before establishing his own kiln. This is a classic Sasaki Kuro-Oribe guinomi, 5cm tallx7cm wide, comes with a signed box and is in perfect condition. Shown with a Shino tokkuri by Kato Yasukage VIX (70,000 yen)
