Kakurezaki Ryuichi–Shin-in(Scene)
An iconic form that Kakurezaki Ryuichi (b.1950) created in Bizen is called Shin-in (Scene) where he deconstructs a tower into supreme balance between emptiness, edginess and form; add to that a deluxe firing and here you have a most wonderful ceramic art work. In perfect condition with a signed box, 51,2cm.tallx22cm.x18.8cm, signed inside. Similar Shin-in were shown at the Musee Tomo in Tokyo and seen in the exhibition book, of which a copy shall accompany the work, an article about that exhibition I wrote for the Japan Times and that can be read here by searching for Kakurezaki Ryuichi Japan Times. His works are held in important museums worldwide and his awards in Japan are many, many indeed, including the Japan Ceramic Society Gold Prize in 2015, it all started in ’88 with the Tanabe Museum Grand Prize Award.
