Seihakuji Bluish-White Porcelain Oriental Zodiac Figures by Suzuki Osamu
Sodeisha founder Suzuki Osamu(1926-2001) was one of the most influential and important Japanese ceramic artists of the 20th century; a slide show from a national museum retrospective can be viewed at e-yakimono.net. Here are two of his delightfully whimsical Seihakuji figures of a Year of the Mouse and Year of the Wild Boar with the former dating to 1972 and the latter 1983. Each in perfect condition with original signed boxes. The mouse is 8cm.tallx8.8cm.x7.5cm. and the wild boar is Sold. There’s a photo here from the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art’s retrospective catalog showing Suzuki’s various figures in kogo forms, so sweet.
