Tall Multi-Glazed Tokkuri-Vase by Ichikawa Toru
When one looks at Ichikawa Toru’s ceramic art it’s easy to see the influence of Bizen’s Kakurezaki Ryuichi when it comes to forms; that’s little surprise though as Ichikawa apprenticed with him from 2011-2015. He established his own kiln in 2015 in Okayama–home of Bizen–and has become very popular here. He’s taken the aforementioned forms, added a little verve and then of course the multiple glazing schemes he uses on the Bizen clay. Lots of interesting textures as well. Here is a multi-glazed(gold, red and silver), multi-faceted tall tokkuri-vase that is fresh from his kiln. It’s 29.1cm.tallx15.5cm.x13.7cm. and has the Sanskrit of Bonji-Purity on two sides at the top. In perfect condition with a signed box.
