Tenmoku Chawan by Sasaki Yuzuru
There’s something magical, something cosmic about good tenmoku iron-glazed wares; light shimmering in space, jewels buried, dreams held. Sasaki Yuzuru(b.1949) has been making such Tenmoku pieces since the early 1970s when he studied-worked with Kimura Morikazu–1971-79–and then established his own kiln in 1979. The form on this chawan is a smooth wan-gata bowl form that compliments the shimmering, mysterious bluish-gray-black glaze that truly delights the senses. In perfect condition with a signed box, 8.2cm.tallx12.2,stamped on base.
