Celadon Glazed Yunomi by Tamura Koichi
Tamura Koichi (1918-1987) was named a Living National Treasure in 1986 for his iron glaze designs or tetsu-e. His work most often has wonderful brush work on it and such an example of his celebrated brush is seen in this celadon glazed yunomi. A full round pomegranate with branches and leaves encompasses the front while a 'string of drying persimmons(?)' is seen on the back, both drawn with red shinsha and iron. The green celadon has a fine crackled on the outside and is more pronounced inside; in perfect condition with a signed box, 9.2cm.tall and 8cm.wide at mouth, stamped on base.
