Bizen Mizusashi by Harada Shuroku
Without any doubt Harada Shuroku is one of Bizen's finest potters within the last 100 years. His work has a primordial power and presence that I never tire of. Walking around Bizen one sees very competent work--meaning proficient on the wheel--yet almost none have the Harada's energy--and that comes from the man's soul itself. This mizusashi is a museum piece for any tea room (or table, as Harada once used it to serve tea sweets from); the smooth wooden lid was especially made for this rugged piece. In perfect condition with a signed box, 20cm.tallx28x25, signed on base. Harada won the Japan Society Prize in 1999 and has exhibited throughout Japan. Other Bizen potters who've won the JCS award are Kaneshige Michiaki and Kousuke, Fujiwara Yu, Mori Tougaku, and Kakurezaki Ryuichi. He has exhibited throughout Japan at major galleries.
