One sudden tragedy in the world of Japanese ceramics these past few years is when Saka Kouraizaemon passed away in 2004--rumor has it he fell out of a window. In any case, he was a very unique Hagi artist with a background in painting. It shows on this guinomi that depicts a full moon with gold glitter. Three kushime-comb markings reveal the soft peach-toned clay and overall the feel is of a mini-chawan. This is the first Saka piece we've offered, in perfect condition with a signed box, 5.7cm.tall and 6.5cm.wide, stamped on base.
