Vessel / Ohira Kazumasa
Fuki--Wind Vessel--by Ohira Kazumasa
There's much activity on this small vessel by ceramic artist Ohira Kazumasa, wind-sweeping across sand, a mountain top, volcanic movement. Ohira works not only in clay, yet also in stone and metal and all his work is dynamic and finds inspiration in nature. His works have been displayed in natural settings throughout Japan, Japan's Christo in a way. This piece is more for a desk or a side table and creates space that belies its small size. It's a magnet for the soulful eye. In perfect condition with a signed box, 9cm.tall and 15cm.wide. Ohira was born in 1943 in Tokyo; he worked for a landscape garden design company starting in 1971, then worked with stone before setting up his studio in Iga in 1974.
