Mizusashi / Karatsu / Hamamoto Hiroyoshi
Chosen-Karatsu Mizusashi by Hamamoto Hiroyoshi
The simple bucket form seen on this mizusashi is common for many styles of Japanese Tea ceramics. It's most often associated with Shigaraki and Bizen yet here is a fine example of a Chosen-Karatsu by Karatsu veteran potter Hamamoto Hiroyoshi(1938-). He's been at the wheel since 1969 and exhibits throughout Japan making classic Karatsu at very reasonable prices, thus he has a very loyal following here in Japan. The glazing is very rich and deep on the outside while the inside is a straight forward madara style, a sandalwood top perfectly tops the piece. In perfect condition with a signed box, 20cm.tall with lid and 21cm.across, signed on base, from The Hatayama Collection.
