Tokoname Ash-Glazed Plate by Osako Mikio
One of the best 20th century Tokoname potters was the late Osako Mikio(1940-1995). His work has simple/deep grace and displays some of the best ash-glazing that Tokoname has ever offered. This medium-sized plate is a wonderful example of his simply elegant shibui works; the glazing has an abstract painting quality it and looks very nice indeed on a stand. In perfect condition with a signed box, 4.5cm.tall and 23.3cm.across, signed on base. A 1975 tsubo jar by Osako is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. Namaste to all......
