Yamanashi Prefecture-based potter Miura Shurei (1942 -) says, "both clay and glaze are like a drop of precious blood, of life- I thank it for letting me use it." After studying Arita and Kiyomizu porcelain wares, he made his kiln in Yamanashi in 1971. Miura has exhibited at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Kuroda Toen Ginza, Yokohama Takashimaya, and has works at the Smithsonian Museum, Victoria Museum, Sakler Museum, and has presented works to the Emperor of Japan- he has also received many awards, such as at the International Bienale. and the International Ceramic Art Exhibition.
