Large Black/Gold Foil Vessel by Sakata Jinnai
This glowing large bowl/vessel is meant for a dimly lit room---one out of 'In Praise of Shadows'--and will send out a brilliant shine. The outside is a carbon blackened rough textured facade that contrasts beyond words with the glittering gold kinpaku (gold foil) inside. It was made by Sakata Jinnai. Jinnai(1943-) is based in Mashiko having set up his kiln there in 1966 after studying for two years with the genius Kamoda Shoji. Sakata has exhibited throughout Japan and the world. In perfect condition with a signed box, 17.5cm.tall and 45cm.wide, stamped on base. "Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
