Bizen Mizusashi by Yoshimoto Tadashi
A fine Bizen mizusashi by Yoshimoto Tadashi(1943-) from a private Tokyo chadogu collection. Yoshimoto was the longest, and most loved, apprentice to LNT Fujiwara Kei; he apprenticed to Kei in 1964 and stayed with Kei for 19 years, even while maintaining his own kiln that was opened in 1975. Yoshimoto fires very much in the Fujiwara Way that highlights red/orange tones, crinkled 'melon' skin, and yohen. This rounded mizusashi is a fine example of Yoshimoto's work and has a very good form and firing. In excellent condition--small nick on the base--with a signed box, 15cm.tall and 22cm.wide, signed on base. Yoshimoto continues to have a fine career exhibiting at major galleries, winning awards, such as the Okayama Prefectural Culture Award and the Kaneshige Toyo Award. I believe in the near future he'll be designated an Okayama Intangible Cultural Property for his Bizen-yaki.
