Shino Plate by Suzuki Osamu (Kura)
Very much a plate that follows the yo no bi way of beauty by use; by itself this Shino plate is refined/shibui, yet with food it comes alive. The turned up sides, wavy edges and body add dynamism to the quiet facade. This Shino plate was made by current Living National Treasure for Shino, Suzuki Osamu(1934-). I've rarely seen this kind of Suzuki Shino and would date this plate back a few decades. The Shino glaze is light with a soft azuki tone. There is a small firing crack (kama-kizu) on the side yet only adds character, very much a Wabi/Sabi trait. It has a high-quality box and silk cover over the lid of which I've never seen before. A fine piece for the table, in perfect condition, signed Osamu on back, 4.0cm.tall and 22x21cm.
