Hohin-Sencha Tea Pot / Bizen / Bizen / Harada Shuroku
Two Bizen Hohin-Tea Pourers by Harada Shuroku
Very few Bizen potters make hohin-sencha vessels these days and surely the most powerful one who does is Harada Shuroku; more about this important contemporary Bizen ceramic artist in our archives. One hohin--also some folks use it to drink sake from--displays Harada's very detailed applied braided clay cords over the initial form, a very time-consuming process indeed, while the other show powerful cuts and ridges. Both are masterpieces of contemporary Bizen in a hohin form; in perfect condition with signed boxes, 9.6cm.tallx12 and 11cm.tallx11, signed on base.
