Neriage 'Marbled' Chawan by Ueda Tsuneji
One potter whose work I just cannot get enough of, besides Murata Gen, is Ueda Tsuneji. I wrote an article about these two in a past issue of DARUMA magazine (Issue 32/www.darumamagazine.com) and I direct you there--or our archives--to learn more about this important 'Mingei' potter from Kyoto. Here is perhaps the finest chawan of Ueda's I've seen; the rounded form rests perfectly in the hands and the colors and patterns are mesmerizing. In perfect condition with a signed box, 7.5cm.tall and 14.8cm.across; a masterpiece.
