Bowl / Fukami Sueharu
Celadon Bowl by Fukami Sueharu
Kyoto's Fukami Sueharu is an internationally recognized ceramic artist that has works in museums which are too numerous to count. These include The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; Suntory Museum, Tokyo; The Brooklyn Museum, New York; the V&A, London and Museo Internationale delle Ceramiche, Faenza, Italy (Fukami will be having a large exhibition from late summer for six months at the latter museum. This is to celebrate his 20th year since winning the Grand Prix there). His list of awards is equally impressive. Yet forget all that and look at this work with a pure eye; does it move you? It was recently fired and has a warm light greenish/blue glaze, a deep well and three sharp lines that radiate to points above the bowl's edge; they also accentuate the white porcelain body as if rays of light shimmer from the form. In perfect condition with a signed box, signed on base, 11.5cm.tall and 24cm.wide. When tapped it makes a most pleasing ring.....
