Tamba Saideiki by Ichino Masahiko
A spherical Tamba Saideiki tsubo/vase by Ichino Masahiko. Saideiki literally means (Colorful Mud Vessel). On this spherical piece are swirly, whirlpool-like decorative motifs, similar to the "uzumaki" design found in traditional Japanese garments. He has off-set this motif with an entirely orange base. On close observation, one will notice that the piece is surmounted with a lid -remove the lid, and you have a vase for flowers. I have a feeling that Ichino probably spent more time on the inside of the lid rather than the piece, as such is his personality -he loves to spend time on details that are hard to find. Ichino's Saideiki is 27.5cm tall, 26.6cm wide, comes with a signed box and is in perfect condition.
