Tamba Saideiki Vase by Ichino Masahiko
We at ey-Net are pleased to present the works of Tamba ceramist Ichino Masahiko, who is currently gaining much attention in the Japanese pottery world for his modern, "urban-istic" Tamba wares. Not only is this form unique in its "book-like" shape, the clay flavor, with its smoky texture, is pleasant in the hands, and the gradation from white to black in the slip is masterful. If observed closely, the inside of the vase has natural ash-glaze pooled at the bottom, while the bottom of the piece can be seen Ichino's "masa" character and his careful etchings.
