Iriko Nesting Bowls by Yagi Akira
A fanciful, delicate, and quite amazing set of nineteen seihakuji (bluish-white porcelain) nesting bowls by popular Kyoto ceramic artist Yagi Akira (1955-). Yagi is the first son of the late great Yagi Kazuo. Akira works mainly in seihakuji and exhibits all over Japan, as well as overseas. His nesting bowls are well-known and he won the prestigious Japan Ceramic Society Award in 1998. The largest bowl here measures in at 9.5cm.tall and 20.0cm.across while the smallest one is smaller than a fingernail; all are thrown with the utmost skill and are quite thin and give a high 'ring' when tapped. They are functional works as well as meant for display as a set. With a signed box and all in perfect condition.
