Large Vessel by Mihara Ken
The feeling is most of Mihara Ken's work is very spiritual, a Zen frame of mind shaped into clay. On his larger works this is clearly seen and here is one such work; a large vessel with a wide mouth that tapers off to the cone-shaped base. It has a very shibui grayish-blue body that comes from the Shimane clay and firing that Mihara uses. This work will be on exhibit for the opening exhibition this October for the new Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, and will also be featured in the catalog. In perfect condition with a signed box, 24.0cm.tall and 54.0cm.across---shown with Nakatsuka Takaya's Chosen-garatsu tokkuri in some photos.
