Sometsuke Willow Tree Plate by Kondo Takahiro
Kondo Takahiro(b.1958) is an internationally recognized ceramic artist from Kyoto and is a third generation potter following in the footsteps of his Living National Treasure grandfather Kondo Yuzo and father Hiroshi. Using the famous Kondo cobalt blue (sometsuke), here is a relatively rare circa 1989 sometsuke yanagi(willow tree) brushed plate. Kondo's brushstrokes are bold and direct giving the yanagi character and motion. More about this important artist in an interview on e-yakimono.net; just search for Kondo Takahiro.
