Large Bizen Platter by Hoshino Sei
Hoshino Sei (b.1959) apprenticed to Mori Togaku in 1996 working on the large O-gama kiln project that continues to this day. Hoshino established his own kiln in 2003 and has already had exhibitions at Tenmaya, the major place to show in Okayama. Also, his works are three Buddhist temples in Osaka. This large Bizen platter looks mighty fine as is, yet will really come to life when in use--yo-no-bi--the beauty through use of Japanese art of any genre. It has classical Bizen firing tones, including a great yohen base, and is on the heavy side; it's 8.5cm.tallx57x31.5, signed on base, signed box: we also have other Hoshino vessels.
