Bizen Kenjo-Tokkuri by Harada Shuroku
Thanks to all who have visited our Kitajima Shigemitsu Echizen Tsubo-Jar exhibition; it shall remain online until Nov. 8th. From today we'll be introducing new works to the gallery starting with this circa 1987 Harada Shuroku(b.1941) Bizen Kenjo(offering) tokkuri that has a most brilliant firing. That would be traditional hidasuki-rice cord streaks combined with a quite rare and fantastic ito-goma white-sesame 'landscape that adds great character to the offering flask. Ito-goma occurs when the straw residue actually melts onto the surface, here forming almost dragon-like images. A rare Harada piece in perfect condition with a signed box, 19cm.tall, signed on base.
