Saiki--'Colorful Clay' Sculpture--by Gomi Kenji
Gomi Kenji(b.1978) is fast becoming a wonder-kid ceramic artist with five works shown at this year's Paramita Museum Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition as well as being shown at the Higashi-Hiroshima City Museum of Art. Last year also brought accolades that included the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition Prize and Grand Prize Runner-Up in to being awarded at the Musee Tomo Biennial in Tokyo. Gomi's work is fresh and innovative often mimicking stones--although the pieces are hollow and thus light--and lidded funerary urns from Okinawa where he once studied ceramic art after graduated from Tokyo's prestigious Waseda University. Today we selected two recent works--along with two katakuchi-sake pourers--and here is the first. It stands 49cm.tallx22 at the base, in perfect condition with a signed box.
