Ceramic Art by Hiruma Kazuyo
Hiruma Kazuyo(b.1947) is one of Japan's most impressive contemporary female ceramic artists, period. She studied graphic design in her youth and was a graphic designer from 1967-1977. She took up ceramics in 1976 and established her studio in 1988. Since then she has been juried selected and awarded at various important exhibitions and we're lucky to be able to offer a few of those works. Her works have been selected and shown at the Itami Craft Exhibition, Kyoto Craft Exhibition, Japan Craft Exhibition, International Ceramic Art Festival Mino, Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, Mashiko Ceramic Competition, Taiwan Ceramic Biennale, Kobe Biennale, Kikuchi Biennale and the Chozo Ceramic Art Exhibition. Overseas her works have been shown mostly in New Zealand, yet she surely deserve a wider international audience. Sizes for works will be added tomorrow, hoping the Wada guinomi shown with some works suffices for scale for now. Please enjoy the works by a veteran artist, the first time to be shown here and the first time for many of these works to be offered ever.
