Tsubo-Jar-Vase / Tamba / Tamba / Nishihata Tadashi
Tamba Natural-Ash Glazed Tsubo-Jar-Vase by Nishihata Tadashi/Previews
Other than urban-stylish potter Ichino Masahiko, another great potter in Tamba is Nishihata Tadashi (b.1948), the son of veteran Tamba potter Nishihata Sueharu. Nishihata apprenticed to his father in 1969, and since has went on to win many awards, such as the Grand Prize at the Tanabe Museum's Tea Forms Exhibition('91), for example. He exhibits at many fine galleries, namely Mitsukoshi(where a jar is now on display at the 54th annual Japanese Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition), and is known for his great firing techniques and powerful kiln effects, very clearly seen on this stunningly handsome jar. In perfect condition with a signed box, 29.5cm.tallx25, signed on base.
