Tenmoku-Persimmon Glazed Jar by Shimizu Uichi
Shimizu Uichi (1926-2004) was designated a Living National Treasure in 1985 for his iron glazes. This very handsome iron-glazed jar dates to 1956 and is in perfect condition with a signed box. It stands 19.5cm.tallx21.4, stamped on base, a fine museum quality work. The box is signed Tenmoku-Jomon; tenmoku being an iron glaze and Jomon refers to the persimmon-toned spiral lines, truly a very handsome piece.
