Hakuji-White Porcelain Sake Set by Takenaka Ko
Takenaka Ko(b.1941) is a white porcelain specialist based in Kyoto; in 1995 he was designated a Kyoto Intangible Cultural Property. Takenaka is listed in the 'The Encyclopedia of Japanese Ceramics' and is also featured in 'Japanese Studio Crafts' published by the V&A in London. He studied with Living National Treasure Kondo Yuzo and established his own kiln in 1970. This faceted set of one gourd-shaped tokkuri-flask and five guinomi-sake cups have a very delicate sheen to them--white is very hard to capture--that glisten in the light. There's a fine grace and elegance to the set, that dates back about 30 years judging from the signed box. All works in perfect condition, the tokkuri is 13.5cm.tall and each guinomi is 4.3cm.tallx6, all signed 'Take (Bamboo)' on base.
