'Flowing-Sand' Vessel by Kobayashi Hideo
Kobayashi Hideo(b.1951) is a Kyoto veteran ceramic artist who has had a most stellar career after graduating from the Kyoto University of Art in 1975; his first award came soon therafter in 1980 at the Kyoto Prefectural Arts and Crafts Exhibition. Kobayashi, based in Uji, visited the gallery today to bring a few signed boxes for works sold; more about Kobayashi can be read in a previous listing. This work is titled 'Rei' or loosely 'elegant,' yet that can refer to all of his work. This particular work is the only one that has a sweeping 'Zen rock garden' flow to it, truly engaging on many levels, as again all his work is. In perfect condition with a signed box,35cm.tallx26x6, signed on base.
