Three Negoro Lacquer Works by Yoshida Toru
Last December Robert was part of a short film for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to show the beauty of Japanese culture, the short film will be released in March. On that trip he visited a lacquer artist--Yoshida Toru(b.1968) and was taken by the elegance and grace in his lacquer works. Here are two such Yoshida works for daily use, two faceted yunomi and a plate; each yunomi is quite light and are 9cm.tallx7.8 and are 15,000 yen each; the plate is 2.5cm.tallx23 and is also 15,000 yen, all signed on the base, unsigned cardboard boxes for each. Also, lacquer artist Fujino Seiichiro's wife is a metal artist and makes stands, as seen for the Yoshida plate; her small ones are 4,000 yen and the large ones are 6,000 yen. http://www.youtube.com/user/mofachannel#p/u/1/wUcXROYc8fE
