Natural Ash-Glazed Mizusashi by Inayoshi Osamu
We're very pleased to introduce yet another young ceramic artist who creates some very original forms in traditional styles, as well as creating his own styles. His name is Inayoshi Osamu(b.1976) and he hails from Toyohashi, which is very near Seto. He studied in Seto going on to build his own kiln in 2007; his was very much influenced by Atsumi-yaki of the Heian and Kamakura periods, as well as by the eccentric Tea master-potter Kamiguchi Guro(1892-1970). Inayoshi passionately studies and creates and it's obvious in all his works, even down to his black kogo. Here is a richly-fired shizen-yu (Natural ash-glazed) kurinuki(dug out forming process) textured mizusashi. The superb firing reminds me of the late great Matsuyama Sugetoshi, who was Kanzaki Shiho's teacher. The form is very well-balanced and sculptural, while as noted the glazing is all due to the minerals in the clay and the fly-ash; also seen are pitted quartz stones from the clay. In perfect condition with a signed box, 16cm.tallx21x20cm, signed on base.
