Mashiko Ash-Glazed Jomon Yohen Chawan by Shimaoka Tatsuzo
There's a lot happening on this museum quality chawan by past Living National Treasure Shimaoka Tatsuzo(1919-2007); first the sturdy-honest form, next is the overlapping ash glaze on the front that drips that also flow into the jomon-rope impressed grooves, inside the 'pool' has a fine green natural ash-glazed glow and lastly is the craftsman-solid foot-kodai; overall one of the finest Shimaoka chawan we've ever seen. A in perfect condition with a signed box, 9.5cm.tallx12, stamped on base.
