Tsubo-Jar / Shino and Raku / Hiroshima / Arimoto Kuugen
Nezumi-Shino Hoju Tsubo-Jar
We're very pleased to feature the graceful Shino and Raku works by Arimoto Kuugen(b.1963) for the first time on and at our gallery. Arimoto is based in Hiroshima, yet uses the finest Mino mogusa clay that he personally went to locate in the hills of Tajimi. Arimoto is a passionate ceramic artist who has studied deeply all aspects and styles of Japanese ceramic art and history, he's also a very humble man with a quiet, deep demeanor. For those who admire Shino and Raku a work by Arimoto is now an essential part of your collection. Here we start quite auspiciously with a hoju form that is based on the spherical finial found on pagodas and bridges; Arimoto loves Kyoto and took inspiration for this form from the above. He also said the form is a bringer of good luck. The glazing is divine, as it is on all his works, previews here. In perfect condition with a signed box, 25cm.tallx30cm, signed on base. As the days go by we'll introduce more about Arimoto who has already had a very extensive exhibition career. We have to offer chawan, tsubo, vases, katakuchi, guinomi, kogo, and koro.
