Ash-Iron-Glazed Henko-Jar by Kawai Takeichi
Kawai Takeichi(1908-1989) had a very prolific career as a mingei potter and kiln manager. He was based here in Kyoto and studied with his uncle Kawai Kanjiro starting in 1927 and continued his studies and collaborations with Kanjiro for close to forty years. His pieces are in museums throughout the world and in many private collections. Here is a masterpiece-museum quality iron-splash henko-jar that is not an ordinary henko form; four sections on the front and back are clearly defined and have raised lines that project out. In superb condition with a signed box--there is one teeny nick on the base of no concern--26.5cm.tallx21.5x15.5; EMS delivery included.
