Yunomi-Cups / Mingei / Kyoto / Kawai Hirotsugu
Yunomi-Chawan Pair by Kawai Hirotsugu
Here is a classic Mingei large yunomi set by Kawai Hirotsugu (1919-1993). Kawai was the adopted son of Kanjiro and the influence is clearly seen; one large yunomi is a blue-gosu and the other a buff crackled-ash glaze. Both are on the large side and very well-crafted indeed. The blue one is 9.5cm.tallx9.5 and the buff is 9.5x9.2, perfect condition, signed box and they date to the early 1960s.
