Iwakura-yaki (pottery) is a Kyoto style made famous in the mid-Edo period in a part of Kyoto called Iwakura, not far from our gallery. Here is a museum quality set of 19 (most likely there were 20) late Edo-early Meiji period of Iwakura-yaki mukozuke each depicting a famous Noh drama title. Each is exquisitely painted in great detail, on the back is the name of each Noh drama as well as pine motifs. Each is 4.5cm.tallx13.5x13.8, stamped on base, all in perfect condition with two old boxes. The Noh dramas depicted are: 葵上 Aoi no Ue(Lady Aoi), 海人 Ama(The Woman Diver), 蟻通 Aridoshi, 芦刈 Ashikari, 江口 Eguchi, 羽衣 Hagoromo(Celestial Feather Robe), 花筐 Hanagatami, 百萬 Hyakuman, 加茂 Kamo, 三輪 Miwa, 望月 Mochizuki, 難波 Naniwa, 猩々 Shojo, 俊寛 Shunkan, 田村 Tamura, 鵜飼 Ukai(Cornorant Fishing), 歌占 Utaura, 熊野 Yuya, and 養老 Yoro.
