Platinum Striped Vase by Hayashi Mamiko/Previews
It's been a number of years since we last offered the work of Hayashi Mamiko(b.1959). Hayashi is an elegant ceramic artist who after graduating from prestigious Keio University started her ceramic career in 1985 studying with Ito Keiji at the Gifu City Ceramic Art Institute. She has had a gallery based career thereafter. This platinum-striped-white trapezoid vase has the appearance of marble. The consistency--and thinness--of the platinum stripes took a steady hand indeed. Plus the trapezoid form is extremely difficult to make. In perfect condition with a signed box, 26.6cm.tallx26.6x10.8, signed on base. An article I wrote for the Japan Times about Hayashi can be read here: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fc20000722ry.html
